Severn Gorge Countryside Trust is a registered charity that was set up in 1991. We are the main land manager of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site. In total we look after 700 acres (or 250 football pitches to you and me) of land for local people, visitors, and wildlife to enjoy. All of it is open 365 days a year to the public to use and explore.
The Severn Gorge Countryside Trust works to balance the conservation and enhancement of landscape, wildlife and public access, and also to reinforce the cultural importance of the special areas under its management. All of our landholdings are open to the public to explore and enjoy, and a network of waymarked paths and trails have been established through the woods and meadows of Ironbridge, Coalbrookdale, Jackfield, Coalport, Madeley, Barrow and Broseley.
The staff are supported by an army of wonderful volunteers and local contractors to keep this incredible and ever changing landscape to looking amazing and safe to use
