Chris Turley

I have been a Trustee at Severn Gorge Countryside Trust since September 2011.  As part of my role on being elected as a Councillor for Telford & Wrekin I offered my services to represent Telford & Wrekin on various outside bodies which include: Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Shropshire Hills (AONB) Partnership, Granville Country Park (LNR) Management Committee, Local Government Association Rural Commission and Local Nature Partnership Shropshire Telford & Wrekin all of which complements being a Trustee of Severn Gorge Countryside Trust.

I served a full career in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces and then followed on with a career at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford in an operational role until retirement in 2010.  During the latter part of my working life I gained Chartered status as a health and safety practitioner and also registered as a European Occupational Safety & Health Manager.  I also qualified in Environmental Management.

I am a Councillor for Great Dawley Town Council and a Parish Councillor for Hollinswood & Randlay and Stirchley & Brookside.  I have been Chair of South Telford Rights of Way Partnership (STROWP) for many years and I am also a friend of Telford Town Park and Randlay Valley.

I fully support Severn Gorge Countryside Trust in its endeavour to balance the conservation of landscape, wildlife and public access and to conserve the cultural value and character of the land it manages.
