The Trust is delighted to be a recipient of Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative.
Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. The scheme will see three local community groups and projects awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.
Bags of help offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single use carrier bags.
The public will vote in store from 27 February until 6 March on who should receive the £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 awards.
The Trust will be using the grant funding to improve the picnic site at Benthall Edge. A new all purpose path will be installed, trees will be thinned to allow views of Ironbridge and two new disabled access picnic benches will be made.
Depending on the funding amount we receive, we may also be able to design some interpretation panels to tell the story of the history of the site.
We will be working with the local community, volunteers and contractors to complete the project.
