Run by the building control teams of Shropshire Council and Telford & Wrekin Council, the Shropshire Building Excellence awards aims to recognise excellence in design and build in both the residential and commercial sectors.
It is with great delight therefore to report that the Trust's fantastic new building won first place in two categories, Best Sustainable Building and Best Commercial Building (as charities are also businesses) at the award ceremony on the 16 March at Shire Hall, Shrewsbury.
On an even more exciting note, out of 33 amazing projects in the final, across 11 different categories, our building was judged Overall Winner 2011. This means that it will be put forward to represent Shropshire in the West Midlands regional final in the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) building excellence awards in Spring 2011.
The regional winners will then represent the West Midlands at the LABC national awards in London in late 2011, where they will be up against winners from 11 other UK regions.
The Trust would like to thank all of those who were involved in the completion of the building including; Steve McNally -Builder, Arrol and Snell -Architects, John Hilton - Carpenter and Timber Framer, John Pidgeon Partnership - Quantity Surveyors, Bob Johnson - Structural Engineers and Gerwyn Lewis, advisor on initial timber frame
