Our Land

The Trust's land extends along both sides of the corridor of the River Severn in the Ironbridge Gorge, as well as large areas of the upper slopes of the Coalbrookdale valley. Many of the holdings are within the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site.
Some 85% of the Trust's land is woodland, but there are important areas of grassland, heathland, and one particularly significant piece of limestone grassland, legacy of past industrial quarrying. This now provides a rare and distinctive habitat for a wide variety of species.
The Trust manages in all some 270 hectares (670 acres) of land under a 999-year lease.
