Many tasks carried out by SGCT relate to ongoing maintenance which is largely unseen. Here Nathan uses our pole saw to remove several oak branches that had split and were hanging down over the bridleway through Vane Coppice. On inspection we found another oak tree with some dead branches high up over the bridleway and these were also removed. Using the pole saw when we can saves money for the Trust and means we can use that to fund other tree climbing works on trees that have bigger issues such as a lot of deadwood in the crown. Much of this is due to grey squirrel damage. Its incredibly hard work using a pole saw. Trust staff have no need of a gym!
