Please note that the works to upgrade the very muddy path along the top of Benthall Edge will start on Monday 15th June and will last several weeks but will hopefully be completed in time for the main summer holday season. The works are being carried out by AJB Contracting following competitive tender and public consultation as well as permission from Natural England. Stone and timber will be delivered from the Spout Lane entrance and taken through Workhouse Coppice along the surfaced tracks down onto Benthall Edge. The contractors will do all they can to minimise disruption to walkers but we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. Regular walkers will know that the path surface had become so muddy and wide that it was threatening to damage some of the flora within the Site of Special Scientific Interest and these works will bring walkers back on to a dry defined route. Work will include upgrading the muddy sections to a stoned surface or timber boardwalk. The works will look new and harsh for a year or so until they begin to blend in. The work we completedĀ at Workhouse and Benthall in 2007 blended in really well over time.
